HEMP NEWS FROM CALIFORNIA - HEARING UPDATE

POSITIVE UPDATE FROM CALIFORNIA: On May 17th, the California Assembly’s Appropriations Committee passed AB 228 in a unanimous vote, which would expressly permit the retail sale of hemp-derived CBD in foods and supplements, and in topical applications. As of yesterday, the Assembly passed the bill on the House floor with a 61-0 vote. The bill will likely have add ons, bringing it to over 70 votes, and because of this, the bill will now be assigned to committees in the Senate for consideration, with a hearing potentially taking place as early as June 3rd.
