What the H is CBD?

Just a few weeks ago, 23 retail stores in Murfreesboro, Tennessee were raided, padlocked, and their owners arrested and locked behind bars, for the crime of selling (cannabidiol) CBD products. Termed “Operation Candy Crush,” a multi-agency law enforcement operation charged store owners for targeting kids with marijuana-laced candies.
 
Ultimately, all charges against the store owners were dropped. But the incident shines a huge spotlight on a large and growing national controversy:

Although caught up the medical marijuana debate, hemp-dervived CBD is not marijuana. It can’t get you high; the World Health Organization declared it safe and non-addictive; and its popularity is creating exciting new economic opportunities for US farmers.
