Roundtable Responds To Congressional Request for Information On CBD Regulations
As we reported, four key congressional leaders, representing the top House and Senate Democrats and Republicans with jurisdiction over FDA, released last month a Request for Information (RFI) to help guide them for legislative efforts to regulate hemp extracts like CBD. Today, the U.S. Hemp Roundtable submitted its collaborative and considerate response.
You can read the full Roundtable response here.
Our submission reflects the view of our members, dozens of companies and organizations that play a leadership role in the hemp industry. We are also proudly aligned with 31 leading non-profit hemp associations on a few key principles: directing FDA to regulate CBD under the current regulatory framework for dietary supplements and food and beverage, while supporting separate regulation of adult-use cannabinoids, keeping them out of the hands of children but not criminalizing them.
We also would like to thank all Hemp Supporters that provided US with feedback as we crafted our RFI response. All comments were taken into consideration and greatly appreciated.
Now, Congress needs to hear directly from YOU!
If you are a hemp farmer, stakeholder or consumer, we encourage you to review the RFI and our submission and submit your own response. If you endorse our submission, or parts of it, please let Congress know.
Responses are due August 18, 2023.
