SF 376 clears a pathway for hemp extracts as food, while also ensuring that hemp extracts are subject to appropriate food product and labeling requirements. The bill expands the definition of food additive to include hemp extracts, allows the sale of hemp extracts as food, and makes clear that a food is not adulterated due to containing hemp. HF 2996 is a similar bill that goes even further by approving hemp extract in food in intrastate commerce.
