Big News: The White House Just Called on Congress to Fix the Hemp Ban
We have a major update to share, and it’s a good one.
Today, the White House sent Congress a special funding request, and hemp is in it. As part of the request, the Administration is explicitly calling on Congress to replace the looming hemp ban with a strong regulatory framework, in line with Amendment #54 to H.R. 8646, the bipartisan language championed by Congressman Andy Barr. At a minimum, the Administration is asking Congress to extend the current hemp ban moratorium (which is set to expire in November) to give lawmakers more time to develop a real regulatory solution.
In plain terms: the President of the United States is asking Congress to fix this.

Jonathan Miller, General Counsel of the U.S. Hemp Roundtable, shared the following statement:
“We are excited to see the President take such a strong public stance in favor of replacing the hemp ban with a strong regulatory framework, or at a minimum, securing an extension of the hemp ban moratorium to give Congress more time to develop regulations. This is an important step in honoring Congress’ promise to help farmers and consumers.”
This is one of the strongest signals we have seen from any Administration that Washington understands the urgency facing hemp farmers, small businesses, and consumers across the country. The ball is now in Congress’ court as lawmakers consider the funding package in the days ahead. The U.S. Hemp Roundtable is on top of it, working every angle to keep hemp language in the bill and get it across the finish line.
Stay Tuned. Your Voice Will Be Needed!
In the coming days, we will be asking you to send a message to your members of Congress urging them to support the inclusion of hemp language in the supplemental funding package. Keep an eye on your inbox- when the moment comes, we’ll need every one of you to take action.
