BREAKING: Senators Wyden & Merkley Reintroduce Bill to Keep Hemp Legal & Regulated

This afternoon, Senators Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Jeff Merkley (D-OR) officially reintroduced the Cannabinoid Safety and Regulation Act (CSRA). This is a major step toward establishing a strong, sensible federal framework for hemp-derived cannabinoid products.
 
As you know, the federal spending bill passed earlier this year effectively re-criminalized 99% of hemp products (currently effective November 13^th, 2026), creating enormous uncertainty for farmers, manufacturers, retailers, and consumers. The introduction of the Cannabinoid Safety and Regulation Act signals a new pathway that we have always supported: replacing prohibition with comprehensive, science-based regulation.

Introduction of their bill is a key first step to developing consensus around a robust regulatory framework that can replace the impending ban. We are hopeful that Congress will extend the ban moratorium for at least another year to provide adequate time to consider, improve upon and resolve efforts such as Wyden/Merkley.”
