California Now Accepting Applications To Manufacture Hemp Products

Urgent Call to Action in California

Just a few weeks ago, we reported that The California Department of Public Health, Food and Drug Branch (FDB) had finalized its regulations for the manufacture and sale of hemp products. Now, the agency is accepting applications and fees for the manufacture of in-state hemp products and extracts (for both in-state and out-of-state extractors.)

letter sent to stakeholders briefly outlines the newly established Industrial Hemp Compliance Program along with the required Industrial Hemp Enrollment and Oversight (IHEO) Authorization initiated by passage of AB 45.

To lawfully manufacture, pack, or hold industrial hemp products and extracts, a manufacturer shall obtain both an Industrial Hemp Enrollment and Oversight (IHEO) Authorization and register with the department for the applicable food, processed pet food, or cosmetic product. Manufacturers of industrial hemp inhalable products need only obtain an IHEO Authorization.
