CBD Receives its First Congressional Hearing – WATCH LIVE

After months of intensive advocacy by the US Hemp Roundtable and Hemp Supporters like you, the existential challenge to the hemp industry posed by a lack of CBD regulation receives its first congressional hearing today. And Roundtable Vice President Eric Wang will serve as key congressional witness at the hearing.

TODAY at 10 AM, the House Agriculture Committee Subcommittee on Biotechnology, Horticulture, and Research will hold a hearing regarding “An Examination of the USDA’s Hemp Production Program”

As an expert and key stakeholder, Wang will encourage committee members to incorporate language into the 2023 Farm Bill found in HR 841 that would regulate CBD and other non-intoxicating hemp derivatives as dietary supplements. He will also advocate for provisions within Rep. Chellie Pingree’s Hemp Advancement Act which strengthen opportunity for hemp farmers and business..

Wang will be testifying alongside Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Ryan Quarles, who will also be raising his concerns about the lack of regulation of CBD and other compounds from the hemp plant. A full list of witnesses can be found here.
