Gov. DeWine(OH) Issues Executive Order Banning Intoxicating Hemp Products
Yesterday, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine issued an executive order banning the sale of “intoxicating hemp” products, effective next Tuesday, October 14th. Today, the Ohio Department of Agriculture issued emergency regulations to implement the order, making clear that DeWine is targeting products that have more than 0.5 mg THC per serving and 2 mg per container. This in-depth article shares more details about the Governor’s order.
The U.S. Hemp Roundtable believes that this order is not only wrong-headed, but illegal. Read our full response here.
Accordingly, last night, the Governor’s executive order was challenged in court by several harmed plaintiffs asking for a temporary restraining order. The Roundtable is proud to join the Ohio Healthy Alternatives Association and the Midwest Hemp Council in legal support of these efforts. Our industry is united and will not allow this executive overreach to go unchallenged. Please use the buttons below to view the complaint and TRO.
