We were very disappointed to learn last week that hemp champion, Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-OR), lost his bid for renomination to Congress.

Rep. Schrader has been a stalwart supporter of hemp farmers and the CBD industry, serving as lead sponsor of HR 841, legislation to ensure a regulatory pathway for the sale of hemp-derived products like CBD as dietary supplements. His passionate voice will be missed in Congress.

It is important, however, to remember that Rep. Schrader will continue to serve in Congress until his term expires at the beginning of next year. Let’s make sure he goes out on a high note, celebrating passage of HR 841 and helping to boost hemp farmers, revitalize the CBD industry, and protect consumers.
