Ragin’ Cajun Update

We recently renewed our call for an amendment to Louisiana HB 758, the bill that prohibits retailers from adding a consumable hemp product to foods or beverages and establishes a series of confusing age restrictions. We had hoped that legislators would substitute the bill for the task force-based approach recently adopted by Colorado. But legislators negotiated higher per serving THC limits while still maintaining the multi-step age restriction structure for hemp products. The final version of the bill—which was enacted earlier this week and awaits action by the Governor—limits consumable hemp products to 8mg total THC, 0.3% delta-9 THC, and 1% total THC. Consumable hemp products with more than 0.5mg total THC are treated as adult-use products and cannot be sold to persons under 21. Consumable hemp products with less than 0.5mg total THC cannot be sold to persons under 18.
