U.S. Hemp Roundtable Advocates For 2023 Farm Bill Priorities And FDA Regulation Of CBD On Capitol Hill

On Wednesday, April 26th, members and advocacy partners with the U.S. Hemp Roundtable participated in a D.C. Fly-In to promote the industry’s 2023 Farm Bill priorities and push for regulation of CBD by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The Roundtable coordinated over 40 private meetings with members of Congress and staff throughout the day, and interacted with more than 100 congressional staffers over the course of the day. 

Key highlights include —

  • 24 meetings in the U.S. Senate (13 Democrats; 11 Republicans)
  • 18 meetings in the U.S. House (12 Democrats; 6 Republicans)
  • A “Hemp and Pizza” Briefing for more than 75 congressional staffers, with representatives from the Hemp Industries Association (HIA) and the National Industrial Hemp Council (NIHC)

“The 2023 Farm Bill will be the hemp industry’s best opportunity to ensure progress, provide regulatory relief for farmers, and include regulatory protection for consumers,” said Jonathan Miller, General Counsel of the US Hemp Roundtable. “This week’s meetings demonstrated that we have strong, bi-partisan support for the hemp agenda, and we go into the Farm Bill deliberations with great hope and optimism.”
