We Want Your Input on the U.S. Hemp Guidance Program

U.S. Hemp Roundtable

As you may be aware, the U.S. Hemp Roundtable’s Technical Committee has been hard at work developing the U.S. Hemp Guidance Program, a comprehensive effort to develop self-regulation and guidance for hemp growers, processors and product sellers.

As an emerging agricultural industry, hemp farmers and firms understand that they must demonstrate professionalism and promote confidence. The hemp industry indeed has a special duty to consumers to demonstrate its products are safe, and to law enforcement, to demonstrate its products are legal. In early 2019, the industry’s self-regulated organization (SRO) will be formally launched. Ultimately, growers and processors who comply with industry self-regulations (delineated in the U.S. Hemp Guidance Program) will be authorized to use a compliance medallion or label in their advertising, marketing and product labeling. In order to use the medallion, growers or processors will be required to conduct the employee training, complete and sign checklists, and be subject to a third-party audit or inspection.

As you can tell, this is a significant, industry-wide effort. That’s why it is critical to hear from you:

We need your input. Our Phase 2 Draft Report is available here. We are seeking public comment and suggestions from the industry through June 30, 2018. All communications can be sent to [email protected]. (Our final Phase 1 Report- â€“ we appreciate your comments on that document as well.)

Your opinion is important. We want to hear it. Please take a moment to review our draft plan and submit any comment before June 30th to [email protected]. Best, The U.S. Hemp Roundtable Technical Committee
