PAST BILL

Urge Support For HB 1228!

PASSED March 31, 2022

HB 1228 removes some excessive regulatory language from South Dakota’s hemp law to better accommodate hemp growers and processors. For example, the bill would allow farmers to grow hemp in greenhouses and reduces the amount of land required to grow hemp from five acres to one-half of an acre. South Dakota also requires anyone transporting hemp within or through the state to have a industrial hemp transportation permit. This bill would allow transporters to simply rely on the hemp grower’s or processor’s license instead of applying for an additional transportation permit.
