PAST BILL

S.1698: Hemp Access and Consumer Safety Act (2021-2022)

PASSED May 04, 2022

S. 1698, The Hemp Access and Consumer Safety Act, would establish a legal and regulatory pathway for the sale of hemp-derived extract products such as CBD as dietary supplements and food and beverage additives.  We applaud U.S. Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR), a longtime and enduring hemp supporter, for drafting this bill which will help stabilize hemp markets, open a promising economic opportunity for U.S. farmers, and protect consumers by requiring hemp extract product manufacturers to comply with the entire existing comprehensive regulatory framework for ingestible products.  We are also grateful to Senators Rand Paul and Jeff Merkley for serving as original co-sponsors of this much needed, bi-partisan legislation.
