Urge Lawmakers in Ohio to Support Hemp!
In 2018, Ohio joined the list of states that have established pilot programs for hemp.
Ohio is currently in the process of approving rules (here and here) that will regulate hemp production as part of its pilot program. Rules have been proposed but must be approved by a joint legislative oversight committee. We expect the committee to approve the rules in January 2020.
Once the rules are approved, the Ohio Department of Agriculture will begin accepting applications for hemp licenses. It is not yet known how long it will take for licenses to be issued, but we are hopeful that hemp cultivation will be licensed by springtime.
The Roundtable is monitoring the rules process closely, so periodically check this page for updates.
In the meantime, please use our portal to send an email urging Ohio legislators to support favorable rules for hemp production and hemp products.
Our portal makes this super easy, with your legislators already identified and an editable message prepared. Just type in your zip code and the appropriate email or petition will appear. Then, click the “submit” button so that your state legislators will learn of your support!
