Urge Lawmakers in California to Support Hemp!
Despite significant progress in 2019, AB 228, which would have legalized the retail sale of hemp-derived Cannabidiol (CBD) in California, was declared dead for the current legislative session. This caught us by surprise because the bill had already passed through 5 committees and made it to the State House floor without ever receiving a “no” vote.
We don’t know exactly why AB 228 failed, but Governor Gavin Newsom has asked the Roundtable to supply the best examples of how other states are regulating hemp-derived CBD. We’ve been assured that AB 228, or a bill like it, will make it to Governor Newsom by January.
We need your help TODAY! If you are a resident or business owner in California, please use our portal to send an email asking your legislators:
- To contact the leaders of the California Senate Appropriations Committee, where AB 228 was held up, to consider AB 228 (or a similar bill) early in the new year; and
- To contact Governor Newsom to urge him to instruct the California Department of Public Health to cease and desist any enforcement actions while the legislature deliberates.
Our portal makes this super easy, with your legislators already identified and an editable message prepared. Just type in your zip code and the appropriate email or petition will appear. Then, click the “submit” button so that your state legislators will learn of your support!
Even if you are not from California, you can help us build our Hemp Supporter army there. Please spread the word by sharing this webpage with your friends, colleagues, customers, and social media contacts in California.
